Simone Mancini winner of his second seasonal round, Noel Zanocz remains championship leader.
The sixth round of the MXGP World Championship took place at a new location for the paddock as it was hosted in Lugo, Galicia, a technical track with hard pack ground. In addition to the two classes of the World Championship, only the EMX125 riders got to the track for this event. Simone Mancini ruled the weekend thanks to the pole position and the overall victory, while Noel Zanocz remains championship leader despite the imperfect race.
EMX125
Mancini’s performance was excellent in the qualifying, where Simone set the best time in his group and took the pole position. Noel Zanocz could not set his best lap and had to feel happy with the fifth time. Douwe Van Mechgelen was 17th.
At the start of the first moto Simone Mancini could not get the best out of his pole position and lost one spot but the young Italian rider was the author of an excellent performance and reached second place on his Fantic XX125. At the start Zanocz was involved in a multiple crash and got stuck under his bike so had to start from the last position. Noel tried to work his way up but slipped again and could not do any better than 12th place. DouweVan Mechgelen qualified 15th at the end of a storming race.
Mancini set another excellent start in the second moto and moved to second. Simone man-marked his rival trying to mislead him and finally had the green light so he could overtake him and opened a margin. Unfortunately, with three laps to go, he lost some time because of a small mistake and had to give up victory, eventually finishing second. Noel Zanocz crashed in the second corner and started all over but thanks to an amazing recovery qualified nineth. Also, Van Mechgelen crashed in the first part of the race and ended up 24th.
Simone Mancini won his second GP of the season courtesy of the two results. Noel Zanocz remains the red plate holder.
Simone Mancini: “I’m very happy with this result. I immediately liked this track and set the pole position. I was third at the start of Race1 and I lost some time before moving to second place but the race leader was already too far. In the second moto the start was a bit better and I immediately moved to second and when my rival crashed I pulled away, opening a solid gap. Too bad for those issues in the final laps which did not allow me to win. Now we’ll get ready for the next race scheduled in France next week”.
Noel Zanocz: “I had a very bad start in the first race with some crashes that affected my performance. Also the start of the second race was tough as I crashed again so I had to start all over but I worked hard to recover till ninth place, which I think is a solid result. It was not the best weekend but we’ll work hard to get better results next weekend”.

Simone Mancini vince la sua seconda gara stagionale, Noel Zanocz sempre leader della classifica.
Il sesto round del mondiale MXGP si è svolto in una location nuova per il circus iridato a Lugo in Galicia, tracciato tecnico dal fondo duro. In questo appuntamento oltre alle due categorie del mondiale sono scesi in pista solo i ragazzi dell’Europeo 125. Simone Mancini è stato il domintatore di questo fine settima con la pole position e la vittoria assoluta, Noel Zanocz con una gara non perfetta riesce a mantenersi leader di campionato.
EMX125
Ottima prestazione per Mancini nelle prove ufficiali, Simone fa segnare il miglior tempo del suo gruppo e si porta a casa la pole position, Noel Zanocz non trova il miglior giro e si deve accontetare del quinto del tempo, Douwe Van Mechgelen chiude 17°.
Al via della prima manche Simone Mancini non riesce a sfruttare la sua pole position perdendo una posizione, il giovane pilota italiano in sella alla sua Fantic XX125 metti in scena un’ottima prestazione che gli consente di chiudere al secondo posto. Zanoczal via è stato coinvolto in una caduta di gruppo rimanendo incastrato sotto la moto, ripartito in ultima posizione Noel nel cercare di recuperare è incappato in un’altra scivolata che non gli ha dato la possibilità di fare meglio del 12° posto. Douwe Van Mechgelen con una gara in rimonta finisce in 15° piazza.
Al via della seconda manche altra ottima partenza per Mancini che si porta in seconda posizione, Simone ha studiato pressato da vicino il suo avversario inducendolo all’errore, Mancini ha così avuto campo libero per passare in testa e prendere vantaggio, purtroppo a tre giri dalla fine un piccolo errore gli ha fatto perdere tempo dovendo rinunciare alla vittoria e chiudendo secondo. Noel Zanocz alla seconda curva è caduto ripartendo molto attardato ma grazie ad una grandissima rimonta chiude al nono posto. Van Mechgelen anche lui è caduto nelle prime fasi di gara finendo al 24°.
Simone Mancini grazie ai due ottimi risultati vince il suo secondo Gp stagionale, Noel Zanocz sempre tabella rossa di campionato.
Simone Mancini:”Sono molto contento per questo risultato, mi sono subito trovato a mio agio su questa pista e sono riuscito a fare la pole position, in gara 1 sono partito terzo e ho perso un po’ di tempo a passare secondo e il leader della gara era ormai lontano, nella seconda sono partito un pochino meglio subito secondo e quando il mio avversario è caduto sono riuscito a prendere un buon vantaggio, peccato il problema negli ultimi giri che non mi ha dato la possibilità di vincere. Adesso ci prepariamo per la prossima gara tra una settimana in Francia.”
Noel Zanocz:“Ho fatto una brutta partenza nella prima gara 1 ealcune cadute hanno influito sulla mia prestazione. L’inizio della seconda gara è stato difficile perché sono caduto di nuovo e sonodovuto ripartire dietro, ma spinto per recuperare fino al nono posto, che penso sia un buon risultato. Non è stato il miglior fine settimana ma lavoreremo duro per ottenere risultati migliori il prossimo fine settimana”.
