In EMX125, Francesco Bellei’s speed on the Fantic XX 125 is there for all to see. Even in Switzerland, the young Italian talent was among the protagonists right from the tests, confirming his ambitions with the second best time in his qualifying group. Starting just outside the top 10 in race 1, Bellei took only two laps to climb into the top 5. In an attempt to move into fourth position, the 16-year-old from Trentino fell and lost precious ground. He gave it his all to recover, when another small mistake slowed him down further, forcing him to settle for twelfth position – a result that does not reflect his real potential.
Bellei is a warrior though and he proved it on Monday, gritting his teeth following a bike fall, suffered on Sunday. He gritted his teeth despite a cut on his forehead and various abrasions on his face, bringing out all his grit and tenacity in race 2, closed with an extraordinary second place. Thanks to his fifth place overall, he continues to occupy second place in the championship standings.
His Fantic Factory Racing EMX teammate Douwe Van Mechgelen was slowed down by the pack in the first corner of race 1. In an attempt to recover positions, he crashed and finished in 25th place. The impact on his shoulder was quite strong and also compromised his performance in race 2, in which he still came close to the points zone in 21st place.
Fresh from his first EMX250 heat win at home in Arco di Trento, Simone Mancini also proved to be in good form in Frauenfeld. An excellent start aboard the Fantic XXF 250 saw him fight in the top 5 right from the first meters of race 1. It took him a few laps to find the right rhythm on the particularly treacherous Swiss track, before putting in a great performance, finishing in fourth place.
The premises were good and the motivation high, but in race 2 on Monday, Mancini was unable to find the same sensations. He struggled more than expected after a decent start but was good at avoiding mistakes, taking home an eleventh place in the heat and taking a good seventh place in the overall standings – a very solid weekend for the young rider from the Marche and his Fantic Factory Racing EMX team

“All in all it didn’t go badly. I gritted my teeth, the pain was a lot after the fall on the bike but I’m very happy with the second place in race 2. It’s just a shame about the mistake in race 1… Now let’s think about recovering and trying again in Portugal!”
Simone Mancini:
“After the fourth position on Saturday I was quite happy, on Monday instead I struggled a bit to find the right feeling with the track, I couldn’t ride as I wanted. We still took home a seventh place overall, we are improving step by step. I thank the whole team for the support, we will continue to work to achieve our goals.”
Campionato Europeo in Svizzera
Bellei è un guerriero però e lo ha dimostrato lunedì, stringendo i denti in seguito a una caduta in bici, subita nella giornata di domenica. Ha stretto i denti nonostante un taglio sulla fronte e vari abrasioni in faccia, tirando fuori tutta la sua grinta e tenacia in gara 2, chiusa con uno straordinario secondo posto. Grazie al quinto posto assoluto, continua ad occupare la seconda piazza nella classifica di campionato.
Il suo compagno di squadra nel Fantic Factory Racing EMX, Douwe Van Mechgelen, è stato rallentato dal mucchio nella prima curva di gara 1. Nel tentativo di recuperare posizioni, è incappato in una caduta e ha chiuso al 25° posto. L’impatto sulla spalla è stato piuttosto forte e ha compromesso anche la sua performance in gara 2, nella quale ha comunque sfiorato la zona punti in 21esima piazza.
Reduce dalla sua prima vittoria di manche in EMX250 ottenuta in casa ad Arco di Trento, Simone Mancini si è dimostrato in forma anche a Frauenfeld. Un’ottima partenza in sella alla Fantic XXF 250 lo ha portato a lottare in top 5 fin dai primi metri di gara 1. Ha impiegato qualche giro per trovare il giusto ritmo sul tracciato svizzero particolarmente insidioso, prima di mettere in scena una grande prestazione, chiudendo al quarto posto.
Le premesse erano buone e la motivazione alta, ma in gara 2 del lunedì, Mancini non è riuscito a ritrovare le stesse sensazioni. Ha faticato più del previsto dopo una partenza discreta ma è stato bravo ad evitare errori, portando a casa un undicesimo posto di manche e conquistando un buon settimo posto nella classifica assoluta – un weekend decisamente solido per il giovane marchigiano e il suo team Fantic Factory Racing EMX.
Francesco Bellei:
“Tutto sommato non è andata male. Ho stretto i denti, il dolore era tanto dopo la caduta in bici ma sono molto contento del secondo posto in gara 2. Peccato solo per l’errore in gara 1… Ora pensiamo a recuperare e ci riproviamo in Portogallo!”
Simone Mancini:
“Dopo la quarta posizione del sabato ero abbastanza contento, lunedì invece ho fatto un po’ fatica a trovare il giusto feeling con la pista, non riuscivo a guidare come volevo. Ci portiamo a casa comunque un settimo posto assoluto, stiamo migliorando step by step. Ringrazio tutto il team per il supporto, continueremo a lavorare per raggiungere i nostri obiettivi.”
