The Fantic XX 125 riders quickly adapted to the sand of Arnhem, with Noel Zanocz and Simone Mancini securing second and third in their qualifying group, and Douwe Van Mechgelen also posting a solid lap time for seventh place.
At the start of race 1, both Simone Mancini and Noel Zanocz were in the top 5 right away. Mancini moved into second place in the opening stages of the moto, while Zanocz closely followed and then passed his teammate for second three laps later. Mancini tried to follow the red plate holder but struggled to find the right feeling on a challenging track and had to settle for sixth. Van Mechgelen finished eleventh after a solid race.
Race 2 saw Simone Mancini take the lead after another strong start and hold on to it for eight laps before relinquishing the top spot. While the Italian comfortably settled into second, Noel Zanocz was on a hard charge through the field, as a first-lap crash had left him outside the top 30. He put his head down and made an impressive recovery to finish sixth. Thanks to his strong comeback ride, Zanocz held on to the championship lead and joined his teammate Mancini on the podium, respectively in third and second place. To cap off a solid team performance, Van Mechgelen secured a third top-10 overall for Fantic Factory Racing EMX125 by finishing ninth in race 2.
Simone Mancini:
“Sunday was a pretty good day! I got off to a strong start and quickly took the lead. I held onto it for a good part of the race, but Doensen was a bit faster and managed to overtake me. I focused on riding smoothly and secured second place. I do feel a bit disappointed about Saturday, it could have gone better, but I struggled with the feeling in race 1. However, we bounced back in race 2! I would like to thank my entire team and everyone at Fantic for the great work they are doing.”
Noel Zanocz:
“The first moto was okay. I didn’t ride at my best but still finished second. In race 2, I had a good start around P6, but something happened in the first waves section. I am not exactly sure what, but I think I got hit, and the next moment, I was searching for my bike on the ground. The handlebar, the wheel and everything else were pretty bent up. Despite that, I feel I was riding well and finished sixth for third overall. I am still leading the championship by five points, but I definitely hoped for a better weekend.”
Doppio podio per il nostro team nei Paesi Bassi
I piloti Fantic XX 125 sono stati ancora una volta tra i protagonisti al GP dei Paesi Bassi. Nelle qualifiche Noel Zanocz e Simone Mancini grazie ad un’ottima performance hanno ottenuto il secondo e il terzo miglior tempo del loro gruppo, con Douwe Van Mechgelen in settima posizione.
Al via della prima manche Mancini è riuscito a portarsi in seconda piazza nel corso del primo giro. Il giovane marchigiano ha occupato la posizione per alcuni giri, prima di cedere il passo al suo compagno di squadra Zanocz. Mentre l’ungherese si è tenuto stretto il secondo posto, Mancini ha fatto più fatica a trovare il giusto feeling su un terreno insidioso, chiudendo in sesta piazza. Van Mechgelen con una buona gara ha concluso al dodicesimo posto.
La seconda manche ha visto un’altra grande partenza di Simone Mancini che si è portato al comando fin dal primo giro. Il pilota italiano ha condotto la gara per otto giri, prima di passare in seconda posizione. Noel Zanocz invece è stato autore di una caduta nelle prime fasi di gare che lo ha fatto retrocedere oltre la 30esima posizione. L’ungherese non si è perso d’animo e grazie ad una grandissima rimonta ha chiuso in sesta piazza.
Con i risultati ottenuti, Simone Mancini è salito sul secondo gradino del podio con Noel Zanocz terzo e sempre tabella rossa di campionato. Buona anche la prestazione di Douwe Van Mechgelen, nono in gara 2 è riuscito ad entrare nella top 10 di giornata.
Simone Mancini:
“Domenica è stata una bellissima giornata, sono partito secondo e sono passato subito in testa. Ho condotto gran parte della gara, poi però Doensen era un po’ più veloce e mi ha passato. Sono rimasto in seconda posizione e ho cercato di guidare bene. Peccato per sabato, poteva essere una giornata migliore ma purtroppo ho fatto un po’ fatica a trovare il giusto feeling in gara 1. Ci siamo rifatti in gara 2! Vorrei ringraziare tutto il team e Fantic per il grande lavoro che stanno facendo.”
Noel Zanocz:
“La prima manche è andata abbastanza bene. Non ho guidato benissimo ma ho comunque chiuso al secondo posto. In gara 2 sono partito bene, intorno al sesto posto, ma qualcosa è successo nella prima sezione di waves. Non so esattamente cosa, so solo che mi sono ritrovato a terra a cercare la mia moto. Penso che un avversario mi abbia toccato. Il manubrio e la ruota erano piegati, nonostante ciò, penso di aver guidato bene e ho recuperato fino al sesto posto, conquistando il terzo posto assoluto. Sono ancora in testa al campionato con cinque punti di vantaggio, ma mi sarei aspettato sicuramente un fine settimana migliore.”
